Celebrating 19 Years of Care

day program

To The Rescue was established in Parker, CO in 2005 as a way to do our part to make the world a better place. Keenly aware of the needs of the elderly, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, individuals suffering from poor health, and others, our business model was developed with a single focus — to improve the quality of people’s lives.

To The Rescue’s initial services were centered around non-medical senior care. Requests to provide support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities soon had us expanding our services to include transportation, residential housing, daily and hourly supportive community living and adult day programs.

We opened our doors in Cedar Rapids, IA in 2009. At this location, we added medical housing, home health care, and supported employment to our Comprehensive Life Services model.

Today, we continue to expand our services in both Colorado and Iowa. In addition, we established a national footprint in 2022 with the introduction of Healthy Living – Today products and services.

We take great pride in working in partnership with individuals, families, service providers, organizations and businesses to help improve the quality of people’s lives. Our rigorous hiring standards ensure that all To The Rescue staff are highly qualified and committed to making sure that the unique needs of each individual we serve are met and that service expectations are exceeded.

Featured Client Story – Meet Sean

Sean and host home provider
(L) Sean, (R) Host Home Provider

Meet Sean, who has been receiving To The Rescue services since 2016 when he began participating in our supported employment program. With the assistance of a job coach, Sean works part-time at Hy-Vee. In addition to gaining employment skills, Sean has learned how to navigate the city bus, and does so each week for his work shifts. He also takes responsibility for his schedule by keeping a calendar of his upcoming appointments.

In September 2017, Sean started receiving additional services from To The Rescue by moving into a To The Rescue Supported Community Living Home. In this environment, with assistance from To The Rescue, his parents/guardians and his determination, Sean continued to make progress toward achieving his independent living goals.

In the fall of 2023, To The Rescue launched Host Homes. The host home option provided an opportunity for Sean to gain even more independence while still receiving support from a host home family. Sean moved into a To The Rescue Host Home in October, 2023. Sean was so excited to be moving into a host home; his entire family was present for his move-in day.

Since the move, Sean has continued to grow in many areas. Sean takes pride in his personal cares, he is learning to cook with assistance, and he takes responsibility to ensure his personal living space is tidy. Sean also participates in family responsibilities at his host home. He showed initiative by clearing the driveway of snow on the first day of the snow fall!

An upcoming event that is currently being planned for 2025 is a trip to Africa for Sean and his host home provider!! This trip will take a great deal of planning, which opens up a window of opportunity for not only Sean, but for the host family to help guide Sean.

The continued support of a host home in a smaller setting is just what Sean needed to thrive and expand his personal living goals. Sean continues to make progress; improving the quality of his life one day at a time.
